How are you any different to Who Gives a Crap and other toilet paper businesses?
How are you any different to Who Gives a Crap and other toilet paper businesses?
Other toilet paper companies fall into two categories. The first are players like Andrex and huge conglomerates like Unilever, selling you toilet paper, lots of cute dogs, while shareholders get rich. The second are the UK bamboo toilet paper suppliers – selling you trendy designs, pandas and charitable donations to water aid projects, while shareholders still get rich off 50% of the profits.
The second group is definitely 50% better than Andrex, but why stop at 50%? We're 100% better: We give 100% of our profits to organisations fighting for system change (+ cute cats).
Other toilet paper companies fall into two categories. The first are players like supermarkets and the cute dog type brands we've all seen, selling you toilet paper,
with 0 commitment to giving away profits. The second are the other eco bamboo toilet paper brands– selling you trendy designs, pandas and charitable donations to water aid projects, while typically only giving away 50% of the profits.
The second group is definitely 50% better than the first, but why stop at 50%? Why not be 100% better? We give 100% of our profits to organisations fighting for system change (+ cute cats).
What is Clean Sheet toilet paper made from?
A 100% profit donation model doesn’t mean we compromise on quality. Our toilet roll is still soft, strong, and made from 100% sustainable bamboo.
Where is it manufactured?
We manufacture our toilet paper in China – where the majority of the world's supply of bamboo is grown. By having manufacturing close to the source of bamboo we reduce our shipping emissions as only the finished product needs to be shipped, not all the parts of the bamboo plant that don’t make it into the final product.
How does Clean Sheet compare to supermarket toilet paper in softness/ strength?
Our toilet roll is just as strong and just as soft. Our rolls are also double sized so it’ll last twice as long.
Where can I buy Clean Sheet?
Our Crowdfunder will launch in October so sign up to our email list to be the first to know when you can back us by buying your first box of Clean Sheet toilet roll!
How do you make sure your supply chain is ethical?
Our toilet paper adheres to the highest ethical standards of production. Once we’re up and running you’ll be able to find our commitment to that here. However, producing goods under capitalism means there may be exploitation in the supply chain somewhere. This is the same for all toilet roll you buy. The difference with Clean Sheet is that we give 100% of our profits to groups working to change the system (rather than giving 50% of our profits to charity).
How can a business give away 100% of its profits?
Simple – we set up Clean Sheet to change the system, not get rich. Once we've paid our staff and invested a bit in growth (the bigger we are, the more money we can give), our partner organisations get 100% of the profit that would usually go to shareholders. We don't get around this with clever tricks like inflated salaries or big bonuses. We will publish all of our costs once we’ve been operating for six months so you can check up on us!
